The name "Diddy" is a slang word used in some parts of northern England meaning "small", as Diddy Kong is one of the smallest Kong Family members (along with his girlfriend, Dixie Kong (who is the same size as Diddy) and her sister Tiny Kong (before Diddy Kong Racing DS), Diddy could also be used to describe a type of tune/song. He is also a recurring racer in the Mario Kart series as well as Mario sports games.
